Premier League: Tottenham vs Arsenal Match Preview And Prediction - 15/01/2023

Tottenham head into Sunday’s showdown on the back of a 1-0 win against Portsmouth in the FA Cup, with Harry Kane scoring an excellent long-range strike. Kane has now bagged 17 goals and three assists in 26 games across all competitions this season, including 15 goals in 18 Premier League appearances.

Despite Kane’s brilliance, Tottenham have struggled for consistency in the league this term – recording ten wins, three draws and five losses in 2022-23. Having lost four of their previous eight Premier League games – conceding two goals in all four defeats – Spurs will be desperate to turn the tide against their bitter rivals.

Arsenal defeated Oxford United 3-0 in the FA Cup on Monday – thanks to a brace from Eddie Nketiah. Consequently, the Gunners have lost just one of their past nine matches – securing seven victories across three separate competitions in the process.

In the Premier League, Mikel Arteta’s side have suffered a solitary defeat in 17 games this term. Better still, they have claimed 14 wins along the way. Boasting the second-best offensive record and the second-best defensive record in the division, Arsenal find themselves in pole position in the race for the title.

Head-to-Head: In the reverse fixture back in October, Arsenal beat Tottenham 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium. That means the Gunners have won three of their last four league games against Spurs.

That said, the recent head-to-head record is relatively even. Both sides have won three of the last eight meetings, with the other two games ended in draws.

Team News
Tottenham have a number of injury doubts at the moment, including Richarlison, Dejan Kulusevski, Yves Bissouma, Rodrigo Bentancur and Lucas Moura.

Arsenal will be without the injured duo of Gabriel Jesus and Reiss Nelson on Sunday, meaning Nketiah is likely to continue to deputize for Jesus in attack.

PREDICTION: Tottenham are expected to put up a decent fight on Sunday, but Arsenal are expected to continue their title charge with another victory. Over 3.5 match goals to be expected.
