UCL: Liverpool vs Inter Milano Match Preview And Prediction 08/03/2022

Liverpool carry a 2-0 advantage into the second leg of their UEFA Champions League tie with Inter Milan. On Tuesday, the two sides will meet again to determine who reaches the quarter-finals.

Last month, Jurgen Klopp’s side claimed a relatively straightforward victory at the San Siro – thanks to second-half goals from Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah. The lion’s share of possession and racked up 13 shots. Meanwhile, Inter failed to register a single attempt on target.

The Merseysiders find themselves second in the Premier League table – ten points clear of third-place Chelsea – having won each of their last seven league games. Although Man City remain in pole position to defend their crown, Liverpool look set to push the reigning champions all the way.

Not only have the Reds won each of their last seven league matches, but they have also won each of their previous 12 encounters across all competitions. It is also worth noting that Liverpool are the top scorers in the Premier League this season. For that reason, they will be confident of toppling Inter on Tuesday.

As for Inter, they head into Tuesday’s clash on the back of a 5-0 victory over Salernitana. Lautaro Martinez netted a hat-trick before Edin Dzeko bagged a brace. However, it is worth pointing out that Friday’s victory ended a run of four Serie A matches without a win for Inter.

Simone Inzaghi's side lost just one of their first 22 Serie A games this season but have only managed to win two of their previous six. Having failed to record a shot on target in the first leg, Inter look set to struggle against Liverpool’s sturdy backline at Anfield.

Head-to-Head: Across all European competitions, Liverpool and Inter have met on five occasions. The Reds have secured four wins over the years, while Inter have won just once. Liverpool have won each of the last three meetings between the teams without conceding a single goal along the way.

Team News: Liverpool have no fresh injury concerns. That said, there are question marks over the fitness of Roberto Firmino, Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip.

On the flip side, Inter head to England with a full-strength squad after welcoming back Nicolo Barella from suspension.

Given Liverpool’s domination in the first leg, Klopp’s men are expected to book their spot in the quarter-finals on Tuesday.
